Google Search Console can now report on the Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube content people find through Google, and you do not need a website to use it.
Search Console can now report on your social channels
On 7 July 2026 Google announced a new Search Console property type called platform properties. At launch it was arriving gradually over the following few weeks. By late July the rollout went global, and the feature is now available to everyone, alongside a new social and video performance guide.
Connect an Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube account, even one with no website behind it, and you get two reports. The performance report shows total clicks, impressions and other metrics, and you can filter and sort them by individual post and by query. That tells you which posts and which search terms are actually driving traffic. The insights report gives the higher-level view: recent traffic trends over the last 28 days of clicks, your top-performing posts and videos, the queries people use to find your account, and the countries they come from.
Google's own documentation is clear about where this data comes from: Google Search, Discover and Google News. (Trade write-ups such as the one from Search Engine Journal noted only Search and Discover, but Google's documentation adds News.) The change was also confirmed by Search Engine Roundtable.
This builds on a December 2025 experiment that first surfaced social-channel data inside Search Console. It is separate from Search profiles, the public creator pages Google introduced in June 2026. Platform properties are private analytics, not a public page.
A concrete way to prove your social content is getting found
If your firm publishes on social or video, you have probably struggled to show that the effort brings anyone in. This closes part of that gap. Inside Google's own tool, you can now see which of your posts and which search queries bring people to you from Google, without a website in the mix.
For a partner weighing where to spend attention, that is a real measurement, not a guess. You can see whether a particular video keeps surfacing for the questions your clients ask, or whether a channel that felt busy is quietly bringing in almost no one from Google. It is one more place to check whether your firm is being found, and to act on what you see.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a website to use this?
No. You can connect an Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube account directly, even with no website, and see how that content is found on Google.
What can I actually see?
Two reports. A performance report with clicks, impressions, and the individual posts and search queries driving traffic; and an insights report showing recent trends over the last 28 days, your top posts and videos, the queries people use to find you, and where they are.
Which parts of Google does it cover?
Per Google's documentation, it covers Google Search, Discover and Google News.
Is this the same as a Search profile?
No. Search profiles are the public creator pages Google introduced in June 2026. Platform properties are private analytics inside Search Console, for measuring how your content is found.
Do I need to change anything to benefit?
Nothing on your posts. Connect the account in Search Console to start seeing the data. It reports on discovery that is already happening, and it does not change your rankings.
