Google now shows, in one place, whether your firm's posts on Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube are earning attention on Search, Discover and News.

On 29 July 2026, Google rolled out a new Search Console property type to every account worldwide. Called platform properties, it lets you see how your content on social and video platforms performs on Google, even when that content lives somewhere you do not own. It is the first Search Console property you can verify without owning a website domain, and it went live globally on day one rather than to a test group.

The scope is specific. It covers four platforms, Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube, and tracks how their content shows up across three Google surfaces: Search, Discover and News. The rollout went globally live on 29 July (Search Engine Land is owned by Semrush), and the data lands in three reports: Performance for clicks, impressions and queries; Insights for trends and your top posts; and Achievements for milestones over a rolling 28-day window.

What this changes for a firm that wants to be found

Until now, a partner asking whether the firm's presence on YouTube or TikTok actually helps people find them on Google had no honest answer. You could count followers or views on each platform, but none of it showed whether that effort translated into being found on Google itself. That link was invisible. It is now visible: you can see, and show a sceptical colleague, whether your social and video work earns attention where buyers actually search.

Read it as a presence signal, not a demand signal. The reports tell you that your content was shown and clicked on Google's surfaces, not that a shortlisting or an enquiry followed. The measured way to use it is as a trend over weeks. Rising impressions and clicks from your social and video content are evidence that the effort is paying its way in search, which is exactly the sort of proof that justifies where a firm spends its attention. There is nothing to switch on and nothing to fix; the property is there for anyone who wants to add it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to set anything up?

There is nothing to switch on. Platform properties rolled out to every Search Console account worldwide on 29 July 2026, so it is already available. You add the property for the platform you want to track, and it is the first Search Console property you can verify without owning a website domain.

Which platforms and Google surfaces does it cover?

It covers content on Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube, and shows how that content performs across three Google surfaces: Search, Discover and News.

What will I actually be able to see?

Three reports. Performance shows clicks, impressions and queries; Insights shows trends and your top-performing posts; and Achievements tracks milestones over a rolling 28-day period. Together they show whether your social and video content is earning visibility on Google.

Does this tell me it is winning clients?

No. It measures visibility, not enquiries. It shows that your posts were seen and clicked on Google, not that anyone shortlisted or contacted your firm. Read it as a trend over weeks and pair it with your normal enquiry data to judge what that visibility is worth.

Is this confirmed by Google?

Yes. Google announced platform properties and the accompanying performance guide on its own Search Central Blog, and the global rollout is confirmed, not a test. The finer detail on the three reports also appears in specialist trade coverage.
