Three mid-August release notes let ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor drive Figma, stock a shared skills library, and quietly fix how type wraps across every surface.
Figma shipped three changes in the second week of August 2026, each logged in its own official release notes. None carries a version number, and none states a staged rollout window, so treat them as generally announced.
ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor can now reach into Figma
On 11 August, Figma turned on a server that lets external AI clients run its Weave tools directly. If your team works in ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor, those assistants can now find a Figma tool, run it, and hand the result back inside the same conversation. The point is a smaller amount of app-switching: you stay in the chat you are already in rather than bouncing into Figma to trigger a task and back out again.
Over 50 ready-made skills, plus the option to build your own
On 13 August, Figma opened an AI skills library in its Community with more than 50 skills to browse. You can build a skill with the Figma agent using the context in a file, call it up with the "/" command while you work, and publish your own for other people to find or remix. It is a shared shortcuts shelf: common jobs packaged once, then reused instead of re-explained each time.
Text that no longer strands a lone word on the last line
On 14 August, two text-wrapping options arrived across Figma Slides, Figma Buzz, Figma Sites and Design. "Balance" spreads a block of text evenly across its lines so nothing looks lopsided. "Pretty" stops a single word being marooned on its own final line, the small typographic tidy that makes a heading read as considered rather than rushed.
Why a partner should care
For a firm that runs its brand or its website through Figma, the useful thread here is less friction. The agent access matters if your people already brief work through an AI assistant, because the design tool now answers to that same window. The text-wrap options are the kind of quiet polish that keeps a headline or a slide looking deliberate, which is worth having when the asset represents you to a prospect. Being-found impact is tangential: these are workflow and craft improvements inside the tool, not a change to how search or AI answers rank your site. There is nothing to switch on and nothing at risk. If Figma is part of how your work reaches clients, the additions are a small tailwind, not a task.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to do anything right now?
No. All three items are additions inside Figma. Nothing is being removed or forced on you, and no setting expires, so there is no deadline to act against.
What does the external-agent access actually let me do?
From 11 August, ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor can run Figma's Weave tools for you and return the result in the chat. It saves the trip out to Figma and back when you are already working inside one of those assistants.
Will this change how our website or brand assets look?
Only if you use the new text-wrap options. "Balance" and "Pretty" affect how a block of type breaks across lines, which can make headings and slides read more neatly. They do not touch existing designs unless you apply them.
Does any of this affect whether we get found in search?
Not directly. These are workflow and typography improvements inside Figma, not changes to how Google or AI assistants rank or cite your website. Treat them as production polish, not a visibility signal.
