Microsoft Advertising now lets you prove a bidding, targeting or creative change works before you roll it out across a live campaign.
Microsoft has moved its Optimization Experiments feature to general availability. In its monthly product update dated 30 September 2026, the company said the experiments are now generally available across Search, Shopping, Audience and Performance Max campaigns. Search Engine Roundtable noted the rollout on 1 October 2026.
The idea is simple. You run a controlled A/B test of one change, a different bid approach, a new audience, a fresh piece of creative and more, against your original campaign setup. A single results page puts the experiment and the original side by side, so you can read the difference without stitching reports together. If the change wins, you can apply it to the original campaign or use it to spin up a new one in a step, rather than rebuilding anything by hand.
What it means if you buy clicks on Bing
For a firm that depends on Microsoft (Bing) Ads to bring in enquiries, the practical value is lower risk. Changing a campaign that already works is nerve-wracking, because a well-meaning tweak can quietly cost you leads for weeks before you notice. A measured test takes that gamble out of the decision. You see whether the new approach actually earns more before any real budget rides on it.
This one is narrow by design. It is relevant only if you run Microsoft Ads, and it changes nothing about your Google campaigns or your organic rankings. If Bing Ads is part of how you get found, the sensible move is to pick one change you have been hesitant to make and test it rather than guess. Good paid search account hygiene still does the heavy lifting, and the experiments feature just gives you a cleaner way to prove each decision. For accounting and advisory firms and others running lean ad budgets, that evidence is worth more than any single setting. If you would rather someone else own the testing and reporting, it sits naturally alongside our search visibility work.
Frequently asked questions
Does my firm need to do anything now that Microsoft Advertising's Optimization Experiments are generally available (September 2026)?
Microsoft Advertising's Optimization Experiments matter only if you run Microsoft (Bing) Ads. If you do, you can now test a change in a controlled experiment before applying it. If you do not advertise on Microsoft, there is nothing to action.
Which Microsoft Ads campaign types can I test with Optimization Experiments?
Microsoft Advertising's Optimization Experiments are generally available for Search, Shopping, Audience and Performance Max campaigns.
What can I actually test with Microsoft Advertising's Optimization Experiments?
With Microsoft Advertising's Optimization Experiments you can test changes to bidding, targeting and creative, among others, against your original campaign setup, and compare the two on a single results page.
What happens if my Microsoft Ads optimization experiment wins?
If a Microsoft Ads optimization experiment performs better than your original, you can apply the change to the original campaign or use it to create a new campaign, without rebuilding the setup manually.
Do Microsoft Advertising's Optimization Experiments affect my Google Ads or my organic rankings?
Microsoft Advertising's Optimization Experiments are a Microsoft Advertising feature only. They do not change your Google Ads campaigns or your organic search rankings.
